about.
Sfiya is a Moroccan-Canadian visual artist born in 1992 in Montreal. She grew up in Morocco and then immigrated to France for her studies in architecture. After obtaining her state architect diploma in 2017, Sfiya chose to move back to Montreal. She worked as an interior designer there before fully focusing on her artistic career starting in 2020.
Sfiya explores the way in which the identity of the Maghreb diaspora crystallizes. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including "Urbanités" at Espace Contemporain in Quebec (2019), "Dos à Dos, Face à Face" at the National Institute of Contemporary Art gallery in Montreal (2022), and "Espaces Croisés" at the Art Souterrain Festival (2022). She also organized her first solo exhibition, "H'rira," at the Moroccan Cultural Center in Montreal (2021) and collaborated with the prestigious Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for the Landline project (2023). Her works have been featured in various Canadian and Moroccan media outlets such as 2M TV, Radio Canada, Radio Centre-Ville, The Concordian, Telquel, and Hespress.
